Firefox Credit Card Autofill



Firefox can now automatically fill Credit Card information on web forms for you, CVV will not be saved. You can password protect your credit card data saved to Firefox, where you need to enter Windows/Mac Password to edit or view or autofill stored Credit cards. Mozilla claims the feature will be available starting with Firefox 79 to En-US users.

Click the gear icon in the top right corner to access options. On the left, click on Privacy & Security. Scroll down to Forms and Autofill. Check or uncheck Autofill credit cards to enable or disable Firefox from saving your credit card information. Click the extension button and the click the card you want to autofill. Same thing works for identities/address information. Don't worry, was not intuitive to me at all and only saw someone posting about it here.

Like Chrome, Mozilla is also introducing web payments or Credit Card Autofill in Firefox the “Privacy and Security” section under “Forms & Autofill”.

Turn on Credit Card autofill in Firefox

1. Launch Firefox 80 Nightly

2. Visit about:config

3. Search for “autofill”, toggle below preferences value to true.

4. To prevent your Credit Card info from being seen by others, you can make Firefox prompt for the OS password by visiting Settings > Privacy and Security > Forms autofill, select “Require Windows authentication..” checkbox.

Windows: Firefox doesn’t prompt for a password if you’ve not set one for Windows.

Mac,: If you’re not using a password, click OK, two times to continue.

To edit or Add new Credit Cards

1. Visit Settings > Privacy and Security > Autofill and forms

2. Click “Saved Credit Cards”

  • Click the “Add” button to enter a new credit card.
  • The “Edit” button lets you make changes to Credit Card you’ve selected.
  • .Click the “Remove” button after selecting a credit card you want to delete.

3. After making changes, click X to save them.

To disable the Credit Card autofill feature in Firefox

Remove Credit Card From Chrome

  3. Click the check box next to Autofill credit cards to turn it on, or uncheck the box to turn it off.

Advanced: Disable credit card autofill in about:config

This feature can also be disabled manually by modifying the following preferences via the Configuration Editor(about:config) to false and then restarting Firefox:

Firefox credit card autofill online

To add further protection, you can select to require authentication before autofilling the credit card information. This requires your operating system password (or authenticate using your fingerprint, face or voice login if enabled) this is usually the password used to unlock your computer. Please note, this is not your Firefox Account password.

What if I don't have an OS password?

  • Windows: If you aren't using a Windows password, you will not be prompted to enter it.
  • macOS: If you don't have a password, click the twice to continue. Note: This is a known issue and will be fixed in a future update.

Use this setting to add, remove or change saved credit card data in Firefox.

  2. Click the Privacy & Security panel and scroll down to the Forms and Autofill section.
  3. Click the button.
  4. Choose one of the following:
    • Add…: Enter a new credit card using this button.
    • Edit…: Select the credit card you want to change, then click to change it.
    • Remove: Select the credit card you want to delete, then click .
  5. Click the to save your changes and close the window.
